iirc all only shows what the people in your instances subscribed, locally or other instances

Yes, you won’t see instances that haven’t been subscribed to yet. Best is to go to the instance itself and look at the local feed to discover communities nobody in your instance has subscribed to yet.
And how exactly would one do that when they don’t even know what an instance is and they are just an old fart winging this shit?
