Ideals don’t die. The damage is done, a new host will be possessed when this one dies. If there is anything I’ve learned about history, this wound will not heal properly.

I didn’t think so. Look at all of the wannabes that stepped up trying to be “the next Trump” during primaries. It was all a farce.

The pendulum has swung in this direction before in the 50’s and 60’s. In some ways things are worse than those decades, but in others they’re better.

History will definitely remember this as a dark time politically though, that’s for sure.

Hard to be the next Trump when the real Trump is on the same ballot.

That’s the scariest thing. Trump is an absolute fucking moron. We may keep him out of office but eventually another republican is gonna get elected and Trump has shown them just how far they can actually go.

Same happened in ancient Rome. Once Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon and showed to every ambitious general that they can become dictator for life, the republic was over. It didn’t matter that he was murdered, another ambitious man took his place (Octavian).

The forces at play didn’t go away. There’ll still be the greed of the rich, the disconnect of a large part of the population and the tendency for a theocracy. They’ll indeed manifest themselves again.
