I walked out of that Marine recruitment movie. Battlefield Los Angeles?

You don’t mean Top Gun, do you? That was made with recruitment money and was rather awesome.

Aren’t all military movies by necessity funded by the government? They can’t use military equipment like battleships and helicopters and fighter jets without involvement from the military… And usually they insisit on screening & editing the script first to make sure they are portrayed as good people (as opposed to the terrorists they are)

The “must be portrayed as the good guys” thing hasn’t been the case for a long time. However, I’m sure it would make it a lot harder to get them to give you equipment for your next movie.

Those kind of movies I tend to skip now. I used to see them a lot more frequently when my kids were very little. I’d take a couple hours of leave at work and leave early and go nap in an empty theatre at 11 in the morning on a Tuesday.

Good choice. I took my kids to see Battlefield LA, and they ended up joining the army. During Iraq they were the ones taking part in the Abu Garfield prison shenanigans.

        I blame Hollywood, of course.

Might want to reread my comments there home slice. I used the movies as an opportunity to take naps away from home when my children were babies and I wasn’t sleeping a lot at home.

I didn’t stop going to see crappy B action military movies because I was afraid my babies were going to run off and take the asvabs.

Jesus, that’s a fantastic idea! Not rereading the comment - I’m not good enough at reading to read something more than once yet - but rather, taking a cheeky nap in the theatre. I will try this immediately once my kids get back from prison!

Did you mean Battle: Los Angeles with Aaron Eckhart?
