“This is Baltimore’s DEI mayor commenting on the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge,” the user wrote alongside a clip of Scott speaking. “It’s going to get so, so much worse. Prepare accordingly.”

The post was immediately fact checked and even came with an advisory.

“Brandon Scott was elected as Mayor of Baltimore in 2020 with > 70% of the vote,” the advisory reads. “He did not come in to office through any DEI practices, appointments, etc.” This isn’t the first instance of a racist swapping out the N-word with “DEI”—but it certainly is one of the most brazen.

Diversity, Equality, and Inclusiveness is what I think DEI meant. Correct me if wrong, took me a minute to figure out what the tweet was actually implying.

You’re correct. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The outrage is entirely manufactured just like with Critical Race Theory. Invented out of whole cloth almost entirely by the likes of Christopher Ruffo. It’s straight up just DEI is when minorities… Anything.

These fascists don’t know the difference, though.

They think that equality of opportunity is the same thing as guaranteeing superiority of outcome by deliberately punishing people for being white. Or for being cishet. Or for being Christian. Or for being a man. Or for being rich.

Basically, the more privileged you are, the more persecuted the far right echo chamber pretends you are.
