Being nice (compassion) requires sympathy, which requires empathy, which requires a capacity for empathy.
If there’s one thing consistent about right wingers, it’s that their capacity for empathy is tiny, typically able only able to grow a circle of compassion large enough for themselves and maybe children (parts of themselves). Occasionally it can grow to include a spouse but that’s about it.
Right wingers are not good people acting mean, selfish, or greedy, they are not capable of being decent people. Going further, if we want a better future, we need to understand it cannot come from convincing this group to act better, it can only come by disempowering them.
