When people post YouTube links… is there a cool open source way to watch it on mobile without going through youtube? Because when I click on a YouTube link and I’m on my phone and it immediately gives me an ad it’s pissing me off like in a huge way… is there a way to bypass ads without an ad blocker on my phone

    edit: Firefox on Android also allows add-ons, so you can install ublock origin in the firefox android app and probably watch ad free that way as well.

      You know what’s super creepy? A robot just responded to a post I made on a YouTube link and recommended piped as an open source alternative haha that shit was freaky as fuck lemmy is cool

        Iirc, some researcher or home user found out that iOS and Android are definitely spying on us. Probably windows too.

      Grayjay is not open-source, though, by the way. It’s source-available, i.e. you’re allowed to look at the source code, but you’re not allowed to do anything with it.
