It’s been worse than this for a while. A chunk of people who voted for Biden did so because Trump was singularly awful, and it really hasn’t sunk in to everybody that it’s Trump vs Biden again.
I think its sunk in the wrong way, seeing Biden v Trump should make people want literally anybody else. Many people I speak to currently tell me the same story, that regardless of how or why, it was much easier to be positive pre-Biden/under Trump. Many people I know with student loans are asking me how Genocide Joe can supply Israel’s genocide with no authorization but his hands are tied on student loans. I know people still upset the Biden copied Trump’s 2k stimulus check plan, only to revise it to 1400 after winning. To be honest if Trump supported the student loan forgiveness I think he could very easily beat Biden. Biden severely overestimates the “Fuck Trump” vote, especially since many of my lesser informed and younger friends see him as the guy who tried to ban TikTok to help hide that he keeps killing brown people.
Some other hypothetical candidate might well be a better President, but they’re not running. So the choice we have is Biden, Trump, or a third party spoiler designed to divert Biden voters and get Trump elected.

The other people on the ballot are basically there to get Trump elected. Their staff literally tell us that.
