Area is irrelevant though since the original comment was about distance. Kinda sad to insist on the correct unit if you’re the only one using the wrong one.

Not sure where you’re getting 10.53, wiki says 10.18m Sq km (and includes Iceland? Politically European, but I think it’s between continental plates).

Anyway, yeah, I guess Europe is slightly larger in area. I don’t know why we’re comparing a continent to a country though. It’s not like anyone is traveling to the border of Siberia from the EU. People travel between the EU like they do between states in the US, but outside of that requires additional steps. Idk, I didn’t start the conversation.

Since when are Nordics and Russia not part of Europe?

Russia is part of Eurasia. It is on both the Asian and European continents. Yeah, the Nordic are, so Europe spans further north and south, but regardless the US is still much larger.

You have to consider the further north on a Mercator map projection the less area the space on the map takes up in reality. The Nordic aren’t as large as they appear on a (Mercator) map. A large portion of the area of the US when overlayed on Europe and adjusted for map projection is over the Mediterranean and Atlantic.

The US is by far larger than Europe, no matter how you cut it, besides Europe being slightly larger north/south unless you include Alaska and/or Hawaii. Then it’s moot, and the US is even larger.

I mean, Europe is larger by about 350,000 km². So, “far larger, no matter how you cut it” seems a bit disingenuous here.
