What is up with Star Trek memes on Lemmy anyway? I blocked like 5 communities already but they keep popping up all the time. It’s a show my Dad watched as a young adult and he is almost retired, that’s how old this shit is.
Star Trek has like 3 or 4 active shows right now. Also never could get into the 60s one but The Next Generation, DS9, and Lower Decks are all fucking awesome and I can recommend them to anybody that appreciates social commentary and great acting.
Nobody answered you, but there was a conflict with reddit and Star Trek mods several years ago and so a large group of fans came here much before last June. They’re just better established than other groups.
I still wonder if it’s just so many old people (“old” in my perception aka idk 45+) on lemmy compared to reddit or if more younger people watch trek than I thought. I know 0 people in my age bracket watching it but have several senior colleagues being fans but might be just my case.

Star Trek is not dead.

Oh noooo it’s old no-one should like stuff that’s old only new things are cool
You know, one day the stuff you like will be old too.
Also, Star Trek been around a long time, yeah, but it’s still going with new content.

Also if I made something with “federation” I wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of Trek nerds showed up
