    Wow, I never thought about that being a problem. Is it the heat or also the strong sunlight? Because you could imagine making some kind of shade structure.

      Some plants are happy here in the summer, but our main growing season is October through May. I am going to plant Okra at the corners of the garden beds, because it seems to think the hotter the better and maybe sunflowers, then anything else in the middle.

      If the garlic and onions seem like they are ok there just isn’t much room - I haven’t grown those before, and since it doesn’t freeze here I don’t know what the schedule is, going to pull a couple this weekend and look at them. Might be rotten, might be finished, might be growing, I can’t tell, the above ground parts look good.

      I think it’s straight up heat that is the main issue in the summer, though the sun is quite direct here.

      Ok I pulled one of each, and think they do need to stay in until late summer here despite fall/winter/spring being mild. The big one is garlic, the little one is onion. Looking healthy and not done yet.
