Recently, every time I click on a “Trending Communities” link there’s an entirely empty community moderated by the @[email protected] account.
What’s going on?
What’s the motivation?
Why these communities are being created. What is the motivation for creating a bunch of empty communities?
Just guessing, but:
If they’re new:
This way it exists and people can post there
If they’re old:
A now inactive account likely made them, but that person no longer uses Lemmy. If it wasn’t “taken over” it would be unmoderated. Consolidating those under one account is easier on the admin and let’s people willing to mod know they can request the community
