It was used as the title track to the 1987 film La Bamba (which followed the life and career of Valens), and topped the US and UK charts in the same year, proceeding to stay there at the top for three straight weeks.
It was this version of the song that made it to the on-disc setlist of the 2008 rhythm game Guitar Hero: World Tour.
