These things were still in people’s houses into the 90’s
Probably because there was no practical way of getting rid of them.
That, plus TVs used to be expensive, and a working TV wasn’t something most people would just get rid of.
More than that, working electronics, they all were EXPENSIVE just until 2005-2010 when cheap Chinese tech flooded market and prices of domestic daily usage tech plummeted
