We have lemon laws, but Tesla fanbois are too stupid / loyal to use them.

Lemon laws protect from defects, and require a manufacturer who can’t repair the defect to take back the car for a refund.

This type of behavior is usually an attempt to claim those don’t apply because it’s user error or damage while operating, rather than a defect. It’s complete BS to make that claim, but I guess if it means some people won’t stand up for their rights, the manufacturer is up the cost

@[email protected] said it but replied to me instead of to you.

A “lemon” law says that if someone sells you a “lemon” (a vehicle that’s prone to failure or needs a lot of repairwork), they have to either repair it or take it back. But it still requires the customer to initiate legal action (or at least, threaten legal action). Once the lawyers get involved, the dealerships or whatever back down… because lemon laws are usually clear and easy to prosecute over.

But it still requires that initial effort. If these people just… sit back and take the abuse from Tesla, nothing will happen.

They also adore all of the looks they get in their lemon. So even though these trucks are shit automobiles, they delivered on the reason every single one of these buyers’ top priority. They are the center of attention wherever they go.

Yes we do have laws, and probably would have ended up in a lawsuit, however, reading the article sounds like this is (so far) one case and though the service center tried to get out of it originally did end up taking care of the issue. Still super shitty that they denied it at first

It should have had a bumper to bumper warranty. Just because Tesla does stupid shit like this and it becomes a news article, doesn’t mean all the cars in the US are like this.

Laws don’t protect us. They bind us. Laws protect Tesla because money gives you all the advantages in the US legal system. Magnuson-Moss will almost surely cover this but again every single individual will have to fight to get it covered.
