Dungeon Master culture is knowing the next attack will almost definitely knock a PC, but making it anyway. While internally screaming and praying for a nat 1.

Or doing your best to cut your PCs a break so they don’t get wiped, but they still can’t get a roll higher than a 6…

As a player, I hate the feeling that the DM is nerfing an encounter. As a DM, I hate the feeling that I’m steamrolling the players.

        I’m a complicated person.

DM culture is being upfront that you will never under any circumstances kill their pet dog woofy.

Ok, pet deaths are obviously off the table. I’ll gladly kill off a favoured NPC but I’m no monster.

For me it depends. If it rolls initiative then it can die. Otherwise, I’m not gonna press the issue unless i am running low on plot and need a bad guy.

Is there some place where I can watch funny DND videos? I don’t have friends so I have never been able to play : (

I love playing up the idea that I’m being an evil DM hell bent on a TPK which my players always manage to overcome. They’re all good friends and know that’s not what I’m really like but it almost becomes my own in game character. This meta BBEG they are constantly fighting

Truly the best way to play. I love doing that.
