The NAACP of Florida had accused the state of violating the US Constitution by imposing new limits on efforts to register voters.

“Florida may, of course, regulate elections, including the voter registration process,” Walker, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, wrote in the 58-page ruling. “Here, however, the challenged provisions exemplify something Florida has struggled within recent years; namely, governing within the bounds set by the United States Constitution.”

    Somebody figured out DeSantis’ playbook.

You kid, but this judge is right on the money.

The core problem though, is not that it’s unconstitutional or not, but that, until recently, it’s unconstitutional only in name. It’s like that old saying, “If no one stops you, is it really illegal?”

Florida, and to a lesser extent Texas, have been pushing to see just how far they can go with wildly unconstitutional laws on the books before the rest of the country starts to push back.

Turns out: Really far. And even if the rest of us push back hard, they’ve proven that they can get away with some pretty egregious things while we aren’t paying attention to their bullshit.

I just don’t understand why they keep going towards the more radical side of their base. That side is literally dying out, what is their plan in like 2 more elections? Younger gen is not voting for them and millennials are not going conservative like older generations have in the past.

The answer is in the question. Prioritizing short term gain and an inability to consider long term consequences are what defines these people.

It defines every corporation in the US. Short-term gains are all that it’s about.

8 years is plenty enough time to solidify power and make it so that the only votes counted are “the good ones”, AKA white republican ones.
