Currently running Battle.Net version 2.21.2.14215 with Battle.Net update agent version 2.30.7.8279, and Battle.Net keeps claiming an update is available, however when I select ‘Update now’ Battle.Net just closes. If I stop Battle.Net from within Lutris and reopen it, after a while Battle.Net notifies me that there’s still an update available. I even tried selecting ‘Install another version’ under Lutris, which downloaded and installed a new Battle.Net instance, and I still have Battle.Net telling me there’s an update available.

Anyone else encounter this? Does anyone know of a fix?

Someone on the Steam Deck reddit did a PSA on this as well. It isn’t just Lutris. It’s happening no matter how you install Battle.net. I am getting this issue when installing Battle.net straight through Steam as well. Don’t continue to attempt to update, this will create a bunch of temporary files in your install directory and some people have said it might even corrupt your prefix. Just wait a bit while it all gets sorted out.

Good to know and great advice. All my games work fine, it’s just that Battle.net constantly seems to think there’s an update available. I’ll just wait it out.

Mine is doing this as well, I assume it’s a bug - perhaps even the same but that causes my Diablo games to show as “Update started…” followed by “Now playable/complete” a second later (nothing actually gets downloaded).

It hasn’t interfered with me actually receiving proper game updates thus far though.

Yes! I get the same ‘update started’ regarding Diablo, followed a second later by ‘update complete’. Likewise, everything else appears to work normally.

If you’re having trouble with Lutris you could always try adding Battle.net into Steam as a Non-Steam game and set the compatibility option to use Proton.

I’ve been running it this way for months now and play D2R and D4

This issue happens with the Non-Steam game method as well. If it isn’t happening to you, it just means they haven’t rolled out the new agent update to you yet.
