For real though. Modern kids don’t know jack about real texting until they can write a veritable essay blind without errors.

Swipe does not allow you for blind typing. Well, you can try, but the amount of errors will be a lot larger.

This is on point lol. The amount of weird words I get that nobody ever even uses. I’m currently using Gboard which has gotten a lot worse since the feature was implemented. Actual Swype tanked in output quality dinner time ago (Example of odd results lol). Swiftkey never worked well with my thumb movement techniques. I miss when Swype was new.

Yeah but I didn’t get my first cell phone until 2003 cause all these young kids I hung out with at work wouldn’t stop bothering me about it lol. “We want to text you!” Brats.

Back then that translated directly to “we want to cost you money” because you’d need the unlimited plans for text messages if you sent more than like, what, 20 a month? 50? I don’t recall but it wasn’t a lot compared to today where that’s the primary means of communication for the vast majority of people, so we have multiple platforms to do it and lol charging per text.

Oh and unlimited didn’t include web browsing, that was separate. And only if you had a compatible phone.

Iirc, it was like $0.10/message? So yeah, the brats were costing me money lol. And I was definitely on a T9 flip phone, none of this internet nonsense.

Can we not with this? Whether or not this is a verifiable event is irrelevant to the entertainment value it possesses unless you are the type of person who has to witness every event in order to extract some value therein, in which case look away from the screen and touch some grass.

I’m confused. What is it that you’re complaining about?

Do you think this shouldn’t have been posted? Are there comments on this post that I can’t see?

I would bet real money that this exchange never happened

That’s the comment he’s replying to. It is possible you can’t see it

Do you know why this happens? I don’t see that comment you quoted, I only see the reply to it as a root level comment. I’ve been noticing this all over the place, where a top level comment is clearly replying to something I cannot see.

Apparently lemmy 0.19 has some federation issues. I know .world hasn’t migrated yet, but maybe their instance has.

I have noticed this same issue for a while now. Just checked my user block list and the true top level commenter, metallic_substance, is not on my list…i dont actually have that many users on my block list, so i didnt think that was ever the issue. But, not knowing WTF most of the comments are about is really annoying.

I haven’t blocked anyone yet so it’s definitely not that but it’s like every thread send to be missing comments without even telling me it’s missing comments so I have to deduce it from the missing context. It’s infuriating. It’s making this platform very irritating to use

Are you using a specific app? On iphone, I see this behavior on the Memmy app, but not on Voyager.

The fact that this is not a link and there’s no standard way of making it a link is honestly a big problem for us
