Notably, this was filed with the UN’s ICJ rather than the decidedly not UN-backed ICC (which, since it’s not a UN body, happens to lack the support of the US, Russia, and China as well as most of Southeast Asia and the Middle East).
Can we do Russia and Ukraine next?
It has already been done. IJC ruled Russia’s operation an invasion and ordered Russia to withdraw. UN does not have an enforcement branch, this cannot be enforced. There is also a warrant for arrest of Vladimir Putin himself.
