Title pic is momma finally getting some rest after being up all night from the storm that rolled through. I’m a few states north of here and we got the rain after she did, and it wasn’t pleasant. I feel every time I check the cam, it’s always windy looking and her tufts are always blowing around and the branch mounted cam is all shakey. She’s a tough and determined bird!

I feel we need a name for these 2 if we’re going to be keeping an eye on them. Any good ideas?

Momma chilling up on the branch to let the nest dry.

One commenter mentioned eggs can withstand down to -27 F for brief periods of time. I’ll have to look into that.

Just got done rewatching Lord of the Rings; so I’m stuck on Aragorn and Arwen for names.

What about Fangorn and Tom Bombadil? 1 is basically a tree and the other a merry fellow, so I think they are perfect owl names.

I do like the LotR names as names, they’re just harder to type on my phone than Mr and Mrs Owl! 😆

I was thinking something like Alvin and Elizabeth (owl-vin and owl-izabeth, but normal so my swipe typing will correct it when I’m half asleep) but I dunno. I always got vetoed when it was time to name pets!

Here’s a pic of her hooting. She’s been hooting a lot lately, which surprises me, as I’d think she’d want to keep her location a secret. Watching her hoot from this angle is fun, it looks like a whole body affair. She leans her head back, her throat poofs up, her tail flips up, and her whole body looks like it’s pushing out the sound to really project it out there.
