This is meant to be a thread for odds & ends that don’t quite warrant having their own posts. Additional small bits of information of weapons, help with identifying weapons, and various talk.
Link to a classic 1966 US Army training film for the XM16E1. Not really forgotten and I don’t feel like putting together a whole early M16 timeline, so enjoy the video.
I have run across a photo of a Vz 58 “RPK” but really don’t have any other info on it. If anyone knows the design history or of any details around it and why it wasn’t put into production that would be greatly appreciated.
I also have a related interest in 5.45mm Czech rifles, which were supposedly in some kind of prototype stage but I’ve never been able to find a photo the the elusive guns.
I think this is a Colt 607, which if true makes it a very rare instance of seeing this design in the field. If anybody knows more about this picture or can 100% verify it is a 607 that would be appreciated.
Don’t have an ID on the make or model. Found the image a while ago while I was looking at some weird Russian/Soviet guns.
An interesting video on using 3D printing and simple tools to replace the need for CNC machining by Mark Serbu featuring a unique rifle they can the JLC-24. [9:21]
An AN/M2, the aircraft version of the M2 .50 cal converted for ground use. The higher rate of the AN/M2 compared to the standard M2 seemed to require a large metal stabilizer being welded to the bottom of the tripod in the picture.
This photo is purported to be from the Battle of Bataan, used by US Air Corps ground troops. I can’t get a good enough source to 100% confirm this though.
