This is one of two films being released that compile the anime titled Re: and Re: Re:. They are releasing spring and summer 2024 respectively.
Two recap films for 12 episodes? Seems a bit excessive
Doing a quick estimate, that means each movie should be roughly 2 hours with not too many cuts for time. That’s probably needed here since cutting things seems like it will be difficult in a show with this sort of pacing.
Sure, but at that point, what’s the point of the movies if it’s essentially the same amount of time as binging the actual series. They’re not recaps anymore at that point
Bluray sales? I assume an accountant somewhere has done the projections. Also, I suspect the movies will be closer to 90 mins in length because, like you said, it would be really pointless otherwise. Total guess on my part though.
I’m really looking forward to these, but mostly in the hopes that we’ll be getting another season afterwards. Do we know if they’ll have new animation or is it just the original series edited down for movie length?
These types of compilation movies are typically just the series edited down to fit the runtime of the movie(s). Sometimes, they will include a new scene here or there, but it usually is pretty minor or just a slight change to make it flow better with the editing for time that was done. I have not seen any announcement that these will or won’t include any new animation, so place your bets now.
I expect there might be an announcement about more Bocchi seasons either at Anime Japan in March (she was in the visual they released) or after the studio is done with these movies.
Thanks! For visual posts, I tend to stick with using Comic Natalie since their CDN is blazing fast, but I should try to remember to link the original source as well. Also, since @[email protected] changed the pict-rs caching behavior with the 19.0 upgrade, direct linking twitter images doesn’t really work elegantly in lemmy. I think that is twitter being a bit of a dick about things though, not really pict-rs’s fault, since direct linking from every other site I have tried works fine.
For completeness, source article on Comic Natalie for this image. They also have the previously released visuals for these movies in the image gallery.
Oh yea direct twitter links are crap (they never worked well for me tbh). Pixiv is also not possible. I think a lot of sites try to discourage people from using their CDN as a means to deliver content to third party websites.
