I came to this sub expecting tears and instead smiled for once. Yay Wisconsin.
Wow, that’s awesome. I couldn’t really tell from the article if he legitimately did the - and 20 crossout or if that was just some editorializing?
I’m pretty sure that was legit. Wisconsin’s line item veto is kind of hilarious because it leads to these weird inverted Scrabble games where we see what words we can make by taking letters out
These vetoes are similar to the line-item veto powers granted to governors of most other states, but Wisconsin’s partial veto is uniquely powerful. That difference is because, unlike in other states, governors in Wisconsin can strike nearly any part of a budget bill, including sentences, words or in some cases even a single character or digit.
If you hear any Republicans clutching their pearls and talking about how Evers has turned into a dictator or whatever, remind them of the last Republican governor’s thousand year veto
