When I go to the top-level domain (https://lemmy.world/) and select “All” posts, I can be scrolling down when suddenly the page will update / refresh and i lose my place, and I’ll see a bulk-update from one community. For example, I saw 20 posts from Torrent Trackers all appear at once. I’m sorting by Active. Is this normal behaviour? I’d like it to refresh when I say, not randomly.

The refresh is, I think, supposed to be a feature of Lemmy. Basically the feed would be updated with new rankings as posts’ rankings change. However, I think it’s bugged out since the huge influx of users and supposedly the devs are working to replace the protocol used to do the update and make it not so jarring.

So far, in my short time here, auto refresh has become a top annoyance.

Speaking of, I recently had it suddenly bulk pulling posts from another instance from years ago whenever I had set it to All & New posts, so I imagine it’s some rough edges of Lemmy causing all these issues.

I’ve also been seeing the vote count totals fluctuating on posts, and occasionally the OP itself changing, so for instance instead of “Home page behaviour, particularly when it refreshes” & your text body, it may suddenly change to a completely different post. Comments remain the same and if I reply it’s still to the OP/thread I’d opened, but scrolling back up, it’s a little surprising to say the least.

Yeah and say I’ve sorted by “Top All”. After a minute it starts refreshing with what appear to be new posts with 0 comments at the top. I don’t get it.
