    Propeller motors can be surprisingly power dense since they get built in free water cooling.

    There is no motor that’s going to change the world of outboards. Lemme know when they make a battery that has enough power to get a dinghy up on plane for an hour.

      I’ve been thinking the same about snowmobiles. Most of the ones I see are still dirty-ass 2 strokes, because the power density is so high. And—like a boat—you don’t want to end up stranded. Winter and sea rescues are expensive and dangerous.

    If that USB C port could accept power, it would be quite interesting to have solar generation input while tootling along. Sort of like this video.

    I suppose they could add a solar MPTT directly to this outboard, but that might be too much scope creep. This only has 378 Wh, so it’s entirely conceivable that solar or a small battery would be a reasonable range extender.
