The Swedish gaming company Embracer Group AB is canceling a video game in the beloved Deus Ex series after two years of development and will lay off a number of employees as part of an ongoing initiative to cut costs, according to people familiar with the moves.

    Spent all their money buying up some of the most iconic video game IP, and now they can’t afford to make games based on it. Here’s hoping Embracer falls apart and someone who cares about more than wooing more shareholders can get the rights.

    Is this how the Eidos legacy ends? IPs rescued from on negligent publisher just to languish under an imploding one?

    It’s bad enough that I’m never getting another Biomutant, but legacy of Kain, Deus Ex, and countless other things suffer too?
