Welcome to February, and congratulations to our January winner, @[email protected] !
For February, the challenge is to make a red drink that relates in some way to Valentine, the day, the martyr, whatever.
The rules remain the same - at least three ingredients, a novel recipe, a photo, directions on making it, and your review or impressions of the drink.
Winner gets glory and the chance to pick ingredients or theme for April’s challenge.
MARCH challenge will be a novel cocktail of any sort that includes Irish Whiskey. Dust off that bottle of Jameson!
I walked into Trader Joes and saw this red juice for sale. I immediately knew I needed to pair it with rhubarb liqueuer.
I looked to the Boulevardier and the Last Word for inspiration. Almost everything red I have (sorry, Campari).
3/4 oz of each:
Rye, rhubarb liqueuer, Pimms No. 1, and the Power Red juice.
Stirred and strained over ice. Raspberry Garnish.
Very balanced with the herbaceous Pimms and rhubarb. Little spice from the rye. Balanced sweetness from the juice. Looks like a Valentines drink, drinks like a garden party.
I might try gin instead of rye next time. And/or add in 3/4oz or less campari? Might do well with a seltzer float.
Very happy with the drink.
