It’s not a serious party. So abandon it and join the Democrats. The GOP must go the way of the Whigs.

The problem is that Republicans jumping ship just pulls the Democrats further right. Eventually, leftists will split off and the remaining Democrats will turn into pieces of shit like the current Republicans.

Call me crazy but I’d be hopeful that the overton window snaps back and the Democrats become the new Center-Right party while the vacuum is filled with something more comparable to a European Social Democratic party.

I think this is the time to promote a new neo-conservative party. Me? I don’t like it, but I don’t like neo-liberalism either, so the democrats are just as impalpable.

But, because of optics and the cognitive dissonance caused by a two party system, I think founding a new party to replace the republican party is a more realistic plan, because they can then still be critical of the democrats, but have nothing to do with the republicans.

Call it the the Conservatives and be done with it.

I wish someone would - the way the system in the US works right now is to have two parties and everything is screwed if one isn’t on the level. Obviously we need a responsible conservative party. The only way I see that happening is if the GOP spends a few election cycles out in the desert. And what better way to help make that happen than a major schism?

Truly should be called Fiscal Conservatives right in the name. We actually do need a party that is focused on reform and efficiency which is a great counter to the Democratic party. But I think that would have to be a fresh upstart party not one built out of the current GOP.

Notice how it’s almost always “former representative/senator/congressman, etc?”

The current Republican party is the result of all previous Republican actions and policies. Fuck them all, regardless of what they have to say about it now. Especially Cheney.

Yeah let nobody forget that they helped cobble this idiotic and gullible electorate together over the last few decades. They liked having the crazies vote until the crazies took over. Sort of a reverse leopards ate my face I guess.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger on Thursday blasted congressional Republicans over their attempt to link wartime Ukraine aid with border security, arguing that the GOP isn’t a “serious” political party.

Kinzinger, a one-time Republican member of the House January 6 committee, criticized the earlier legislative push to tie the two critical issues together while speaking with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.

Kinzinger, who served in the House from 2011 to 2023, called out the GOP after conservatives in the lower chamber turned their backs on the bipartisan border security deal that was crafted in the Senate.

"Now, President Biden has come forward and said ‘Ok, I’m basically going to give you everything you’ve asked for.’

Donald Trump has been vocal in his distaste for the bipartisan border security plan, remarking that he would gladly take credit should it fall apart.

However, the Democratic-controlled Senate in the coming days is set to unveil a national security package that includes a border deal, along with funding for Ukraine and Israel.
