Many are suspecting the ban on sulphur additives in maritime shipping fuel is a major contributor to this trend. We’re reducing SO2 which is great, but apparently it was helping reduce warming. Now without it we’re witnessing where we’re actually at. We’re pretty fucked.

analysis shows that the likely side-effect of the 2020 regulations to cut air pollution from shipping is to increase global temperatures by around 0.05C by 2050.
We’re seeing a lot more than 0.05 already and 2050 is still decades away. It’s not the sulfur.
I think it’s climate feedback loops kicking in.
It’s 5c in Winnipeg Canada this week. Usually I’d expect -20/-30c
