An Arizona Republican bill that would allow individuals with concealed carry weapon permits to bring their firearms onto college campuses passed an initial hurdle, though it’s all but certain the proposal won’t become law.

Why would it be a problem is people with permits on college. I would not think the people who got the permits and people who would commit crimes would be a large overlap.

Because you have a permit does not mean you cannot get depressed… I’ll never understand the muricans and their need to shoot anything in sight.

About shoot anything in sight, there is a couple of things. Police response time in the USA is slow and in some places it is not practical to make it better. I also think how individual the USA is some people feel better with their own defense in their own hands. But the USA does need to do better on health care including mental health.

Only russia and Costa Rica have a Higher Police Budget than the USA… Just think about it, you pay more for less, so you shoot each other up…

Is that per capita, land, gdp, or just total.

            Edit

I looked it up, it is by GDP, which makes sense the US is big. But we do still have a policing problem.

Maybe if there was restricted access to certain things that kill people, there would be less need for police. Also there is a lot of funding in the us for police on campus, referred to as school resource officers. Unfortunately it just results in children being charged with felonies for acting out instead of protection.

As someone trained with firearms and who spent time around people trained with firearms, I’m happy I live in a country where I no longer have the ability. I’m happy I don’t see guns every day in my life anymore. In fact I see less police and less crime in general since I left the us.

Guns being out of my life has had a positive effect. I no longer hear people talk about shooting people over petty bullshit as “jokes”. I also don’t hear people defending firearms because “some people feel better”. I’m glad those people get to feel better, it really makes the death of children in 100s of school shootings worth it.

Would that not apply to cars also.

Are cars tools designed specifically for killing?

They are both dangerous tools that take some training to use safely, but can be bought and used without a license but may need to have a license to use or have in public. I think it is a fair analogy. But I do concede cars have more use than guns.

You mean the big boxes made from steel you can easily “Dodge” if you see them coming. The ones with a license plate you can identify?

How many people are actually killed with a vehicle on purpose per year?

          Classical straw man…

How many concealed weapons permit holders commit crimes.

My statement was about the people with permits be allowed to carry on college campus. It might me better for safety to remove all guns but I honestly think that is near unattainable in the US.

I always find these bans weird. If someone’s going to shoot a place up, they’re not obeying the “no guns” sign. So what problem are we trying to solve?

That won’t fix it. It just makes people confuse and if it not clear it would just arrest otherwise law abiding people.

Gotta start somewhere. Gun culture is out of control in the US.

I agreed, I don’t think it is wrong to have no guns area but there should be enforcement and protection with it. There should be no practical way to walk in with a gun without someone being alerted.
