China already got what they need from Tesla. China is the number 1 car market. Number 1 in EVs. Number 1 in batteries.

I suspect Tesla will work with BYD and CATL to make low priced entry level EVs. They will do this in Mexico. Not USA.
Meanwhile Borgwarner just signed with BYD.
Yes, but knowing China, they’ll be happy to supply Tesla, while selling knock-off parts and quality control failures under their own brand to anyone who wants them, at least until they get their own operation up and running to make their own cars, a process a lot easier when you’re in the country, something Tesla will be facilitating.
China will be facilitating Tesla. It will be similar to the last go around. Other countries China builds their own factories. People forget Tesla’s mission statement.

Many governments are competing to attract Chinese EV makers. The transition to EVs will be a gold rush for new carmakers that missed out on 100 years of ICE development.
No Chinese suppler will reject an offer of getting their hands on Tesla.
