France’s Senate is to vote on Wednesday on a bill meant to enshrine a woman’s right to an abortion in the constitution, a measure promised by President Emmanuel Macron following a rollback on rulings in the United States.

    Keep in mind that the Senate speaker claimed that the right to abortion is not in danger in France (it kind of isn’t at the moment but it will definitely be in the near-ish future, hence the law). And the majority in the senate is right leaning. So it might not go through.

        I believe we’re all the way down to “zygotes are people”.

        And I don’t see a framework where zygotes are people and women are too.

        The idea to add it to the constitution came straight after roe v wade got repealed. I agree that it should be further protected, especially with the rise of christo nationalism and other far right pleasantries we are currently enduring. But given the state of our senate, it’s far from being done…
