Are they off by a decimal or bad translation?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Hamas claimed on its Telegram channel on Friday that seven hostages had been killed during Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Hamas named three of the hostages that had been allegedly killed as Chaim Gershon Peri, 79, Yoram Itak Metzger, 80, and Amiram Israel Cooper, 85.

“After examination and scrutiny during recent weeks, we have confirmed the martyrdom of a number of our mujahideen and the killing of seven enemy prisoners in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Zionist bombing.”

The last component of the statement is a reference to the current proposed ceasefire deal, which would begin on the Islamic holiday of Ramadan and see 10 security prisoners released per Israeli hostage.

Hamas had released a video teasing their announcement about the fate of a few of their hostages held in Gaza earlier in the day.

In January, Hamas released a nearly identical video announcing the fates of Yossi Sharabi, Itai Svirsky, and Noa Argamani.

The original article contains 613 words, the summary contains 158 words. Saved 74%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

“Hostages killed in captivity” makes it sound like they where executed by Hamas, and I’m sure that’s no accident. Israel killed these people.

Ah, yes. Even when Hamas did it, Israel still did it.

You know all those airstrikes targeting tunnels in which Hamas is believed to hold those hostages is a bit cynical way of Israel to pretend they really care about the well-being of the said hostages.

So I find it very plausible that Israel has inadvertently killed many of their own.

Plus what’s the point of Hamas killing those hostages, as keeping them alive would be more beneficial for their cause and killing them intentionally achieves absolutely nothing.

For the record I am not a Hamas supporter, just trying to think critically.
