I need a little help here. I run into an unexpected occurrence, one that leaves me still wondering how it came about. I logged into my Lemmy account to disable 2FA because from my engagements, it’s not functional (if it is, kindly help me). I was required to provide a token when I couldn’t even obtain the codes then I run into the most bizarre thing ever…what looks like porn sites. I’m confused, perplexed to say the least. Is there something I’m not doing right? How did this come to be plus I’m making use of the Brave browser which does a fair job at keeping ads at bay. I don’t think they are ads. Am I the only one that has encountered this and if no, what’s how did you go about handling it? Thanks!

Thanks! At least, the third-party apps are clean. It’s just the web that shows that issue

Do you have a source of where we can get official updates from them on the situation?

Lemmy.world appears to have been hacked. I guess just keep calm and wait for the admins to sort things out.

As someone from lemmy.world this is good to know. I would love to set up 2FA on my account but I can only set it up on my phone and it forces me to open in an app I don’t want to use. Yay me. Glad I used a temp email and random password though. Off I go to change the password

Looks like a temporal fix to me too. I’d might consider it (referring to the temporal email and rando password)

Is there some kind of time hack that you guys are doing?

use Authy, it works on Desktop and mobile. You don’t need a phone.

Yeah I use Bitwarden for all my passwords and 2FA I have Authy and Google Auth as well but bitwarden will auto copy my 2FA

Smells like meta is testing our patience!

Yes. Because Meta is the one prone to childish script kiddie antics and not, say, the *chan brigade.

I mean, there’s probably lots of entities that would either like to fuck with a new community or do what they can to discourage it from existing.

Which of them, however, would link to “lemon party” or have a pinned thing on the side telling people to “be less gay” or …?

I’m putting my money on the *chan psychopaths.
