I logged into lemmy.world and things are strange. In the upper left corner of my screen, to the left of Communities on the menu I have the text Israel and when I hover over it, I see Nigga Style. Also, the NSFW photo from Lemonparty.org flashes on the screen. I have logged out and in, but nothing changes.
An admin account was hacked and they fucked with the website. They’ve been removed as an admin now and I assume they are working on restoring lemmy.world as we speak. I expect an official statement sometime tonight or tomorrow.
Use a third party app to avoid this
I was on my laptop browsing through firefox…is there a linux based app you can recommend so I don’t have to use firefox?
I’m on mobile so don’t see it (using Liftoff) but yes I get the same thing as you on PC using Firefox. Use the mobile for now till it goes away, and use an adblocker which will block the redirects (I’m using uBlock Origin)
