This episode focused mainly on Makoto’s students. I really like this part of the story, the part that deals with Makoto’s teaching. I wish that there were more series that included teaching as a story element. Instead, most manga/anime are from the perspective of a student rather than a teacher, and those that are from a teacher POV often don’t have the actual educating part of the job as a focus.

It sucks to be the Rembrandt sisters, with your dad having the ability to influence your teacher like this. Their training time will unfortunately be cut short compared to everybody else. I am sure they will give their father an earful when they see him next.

The last thing I wanted to mention here is the significance of Rona’s telepathy spell. It’s been a while, so I can’t say I remember everything from back when I read it though, so if it is fresh in somebody’s head, feel free to correct me. The important part is that Rona’s version of the telepathy spell includes parts that prevent eavesdropping in ways that the standard telepathy doesn’t. Tomoe and co. think that this will be useful to incorporate into their own telepathy spells to try to prevent the Goddess from eavesdropping as well as learning lessons from it generally to prevent her meddling in their affairs at all.

In case it isn’t clear at this point, Makoto is holding a grudge against her specifically because of how she plucked him out of the world and threw him against Sophia without any choice. Since then, he has been searching for ways of preventing something like that ever happening again.

I think the teaching part really freshened up the Story, in the WN, Manga and here. It help anchor down Makoto to the realm of the mortal just that little bit better by having him interact with young people instead of only trained adventurers and the like. Without the teaching side job I think the Story would be a lot further down the power escalation journey than it currently is, which is very welcome on my end.

It is clear that they need to cut a lot of content in this arc. I can’t say that it is a bad decision, as this arc in the manga feels like it is dragging on forever. There are just too much happening. Nevertheless, I am curious about the opinions of those who have not read the manga.

They cut out the part where Makoto got really angry at Tomoe for her duping Lime into giving up his humanity. IMO that is an important scene as it gives us a glimpse into Makoto’s way of thinking.

They also cut the line where the Rembrant sisters say they’ll stop talking to their dad because he forced them to go home.

I love how Makoto is just an absolute demon of a teacher to the students. Brutal but effective.

Oh, forgot to mention that Blue Lizard (#1) being skillful and Blue Lizard Zwei (#2) being strong is a reference to the original Masked Rider series :) It is a little more obvious in the source materials.
