I’m using authy and I can’t log in. Is there any way I can fix that?

Try the password reset first, if that doesn’t help please send an email explaining your problem to [email protected] so a ticket will be created.

Lemmy does not support authy for their implementation of 2FA for the time being, although its on the list of 2FA issues that need fixing.

You might need to contact the instance operators for that.

Or do a password reset, since that will apparently let you access your account to turn off 2FA for the time being.

Did you provide an email? I’ve heard password reset bypasses 2fa. I don’t recommend enabling 2fa in its current state though, without verifying am OTP code prior to enabling 2fa, you never know if you’ve just locked yourself out of your account.

The advice I’ve seen in similar posts is to enable 2FA, set up your code generator with the info from settings and then test it using an incognito window or other browser. If it’s not working, you can switch back over to the window that’s still logged in and remove 2FA while figuring out what broke.

This is sensible advice, but also advanced that is still dangerous if someone doesn’t have a good understanding of how web-sessions are stored and gets confused about what browser is what or accidentally logs out of the wrong browser.

Unless someone has demonstrated technique acumen, I’m likely to continue to advise to wait for the feature to improve since losing access to your account is so spooky if you don’t have the confidence to get it back.

I had to fully sign out (even when my account wasn’t listed) for it to actually let me log back in.

I would say make sure your Authy is connected + synced up. Try seeing if you can sign out still. Otherwise good luck my dude!
