Ok so silly season is supposed to be over the summer break where we all speculate about driver team moves and sit a aghast when Uncle Eddie makes his predictions. But the 2024 season has started off with silly season from day 1!

    • Christian Horner harassing a female coworker in an effort to know what she is wearing so that he can finish himself off and get some shut eye.
    • Verstappen senior distancing himself from RB.
    • Hamilton to Ferrari confirmed.
    • RB firing female worker for complaining about sexual harassment.
    • Susie Wolf taking the FIA to court.

What’s next? Albon shitting in a shoe and throwing it at Sainz?

Looks like Newey to Ferrari is next, or so the rumors go.

I don’t keep my ear close to the ground so this is the first I’ve seen this. That move would be spicy.

Why would a man a few years before retirement age switch jobs?

Newey has said he always wanted to design a Ferrari. He also has said that he wanted to work with Hamilton.

Kind of crazy that you judge when he should retire, I think he’s 80. Well past retirement.

In any case, don’t take the rumor mill too seriously. it’s a circus, with clowns and high wire acts. Probably the reason I like it.

Tell you one thing, though, these Internal investigations are horseshit and all these matters with women are going to be judged in public. It won’t leave until some people do.

WTF are you talking about? You’re obiously confusing Helmut Maro with Adrian Newey. Newey is 65. UK pension age is 66.

Yeah sorry. Fact still remains that Newey will do what he wants to do no matter the age. Not only that but he can. I would look forward to seeing the Newey Ferrari street car, not that I could afford one.

Nobody forces you to retire. It just becomes (usually) more economical to stop working, kick back, and let the government give you free shit in return for votes.

If you’re in demand, have the skills, and are willing to keep working like Newey then people will take the decision to keep going.

Plenty of old white dudes in F1.

I didn’t write anything about forcing him out, neither am I “judging when he should retire”, but everyone acting as if a guy in the mid-60s would want to set up an entire operation around him in a completely diffent country is just out of touch with the realities of being an older guy.

FIA claimed at least one team had complained, which one? Was it Redbull or one of its executives?

It is silly season betting time. Place your bets!

I don’t recall the FIA ever naming any names, the compaint was investigated, and then the unnamed person was cleared. Sounded pretty much like due process to me.

What were the FIA statements about Ms. Wolff? Out of the loop…

From memory FOM were alleging she leaked confidential information to Toto and that a number of teams had raised concerns. However every single team publicly came out and said they hadn’t raised any concerns, and the Wolffs both came out saying nothing had been shared. FOM eventually dropped their investigation.

It wasnt FOM alleging, it was the FIA. Then the FIA investigated the FOM.

Which made it pretty clear to me that this had nothing to do with Suzie and a lot to do with the FIA-FOM conflict.

Cheers! I like the bit about the co-ordinated statement, exposing a lie.

Why? They’re married, they’re supposed to, you know, talk to each other. Communicate. Coordinate their actions. You know, like, a functional couple.

I mean, nobody knows except these two if something critical was actually shared, but a coordinated statement is the least sus part of the story.
