I voted NO on the appropriations bill that the Senate passed last night. While hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children face starvation in Gaza, this bill actually prohibits funding to UNWRA, the key United Nations aid agency delivering life-saving humanitarian support. This will only intensify the already horrific situation in Gaza. This bill also provides another $3.3 billion in U.S. military aid for Netanyahu’s right-wing government to continue this barbaric war. The Netanyahu government should not receive another penny from U.S. taxpayers

This isn’t just the democratic party refusing to help Palestinians, they’re actively funding the genocide.

This shit wasn’t added to get republicans onboard, this was added because “moderates” and conservatives both support this genocide.

No matter who gets elected, that won’t change.

And that lack of choice will depress turnout, and that’s how Republicans win.

This entire system is fundamentally flawed. Why is so much shit packed into a single bill? Why the fuck is money for Israel contained in the same bill as funding to keep our government from shutting down? How did it get to this point?

what’s the alternative? the idea is to make compromise between “extremes” and end up somewhere in the middle: one side has to compromise on things they don’t mind much about to give the other something they really want, which should lead to getting the biggest issues for both sides at least partly resolved

it’s not that packing a bunch of deals together into 1 package is a problem; it’s the road blocks just to make the other side look ineffective that’s the problem

How is combining multiple issues not problematic?

But how else can those billions of government dollars get back in the pockets of billionaire defense contractors where they belong? You can’t just shut down a 70+ year old money laundering scheme like that, can you?

Framing this as a problem with Netanyahu rather than Israel as a whole is ridiculous but hey I suppose it’s better than nothing.
