Baldur’s Gate 3 players have gotten really silly with mods since the game came out, including creating a number of mods that allow otherwise unplayable characters to join the party. But according to Larian Studios head Swen Vincke, a number of those characters may have been considered for inclusion as companions early in development, including one particular villain.

Who was his favorite cut companion? A surprising answer: it’s Act 2’s major villain, Ketheric Thorm.

Yeah, I could see that. He was not irredeemable and the interactions with his daughter would have been interesting. J.K. Simmons probably didn’t have the time to record all those additional lines, would be my theory.

Or Simmons got more expensive faster than Larian wanted him too. As for redeemable I’m not quite sure I agree with you,

        spoiler

Ketheric is a tragic story but he not only flipped sides to an unambiguously evil goddess and killed many in her name he went and abandoned her as well for Myrkul. Why would anyone let alone a goddess trust him?

Maybe not redeemable in the eyes of the gods, but chance for redemption in the eyes of mortals? Maybe.

Sad but totally understandable why the Vlakkith parts were cut. I still wish the player could kick her ass, though!
