It’s too late, you said PAY TAXES, so you accidentally agreed to the unwritten, secret contract and now we own your PERSONHOOD COOPERATION ENTITLEMENT.

Too bad you didn’t locate the secret underground papers hidden in floor 6B that allowed you to have the gold assigned to your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. Now you must slave away for the CABAL OF ADMIRAL LIZARD PEOPLE for another 30 years + 1 day.

I’ve seen a few of these posted now, is this whole “movement” just a delusional attempt to absolve themselves of responsibilities using magic legal incantations?

It’s never like “I want to build a community park on my private land but government won’t recognize my independence” it’s always just seeking advice to wiggle out of debts and court hearings… so boring

But they’ll totally do that once they have all the money they deserve and the evil gubmint stops stealing. Once that final hurdle is cleared, of course they will lead a life of philanthropy.

Tell your boss you don’t want tax withheld from your pay and watch yourself get fired. Then you have zero income and zero income tax.

What? You can absolutely have your employer stop taking tax deductions, it makes no difference to them, but then you do have to file and pay the IRS directly. .

You can totally write “exempt” on the W4. You still have to pay up if you owe after all is said and done.

At least in Canada, you have to file taxes, even if you have no income, as proof you are eligible for welfare programs.

Interesting. In the US it’s meant to be a humiliating and kafkaesque process designed to dissuade people from applying.

In my province, BC, people who use the foodbank or other welfare programs get their taxes done for free. My mom used to volunteer for this each year at the local foodbank while she held her CPA credentials (she’s retired now).

It’s also that a bit in Canada, but how much so depends largely on the current govermental makeup at the time. The longer you have conservatives federally and provincially, the more it gets like the states. But even a quick 4 years of liberals in either can significantly relax it again. The majority of the people here still want it more relaxed, so it’s an uphill battle for the conservatives. But they are pretty great at rigging uphill battles to be more in their favour anyway, of course.

My uncle had 20 years of unfilled taxes. Upon his death, Canada Revenue Agency just seized his assets, in this case his house and his truck. So technically, death did not save him from taxes.
