For anyone else who sees the title and wonders, “WTF is a Citadel cadet?”, the article does not say.
It is a private military academy - think West Point, but a private school. Students are basically officially ROTC, but unlike ROTC at a normal university, it’s a full time thing with both daily and formal uniforms, marches, etc.
Like West Point, Citadel grads form an old school ties network in the military.
One movie about the school is Lords of Discipline.
In Charleston it’s a big thing.
“The Citadel” is a military school, I think tied to the Marines. But more of like a JROTC thing that some people take real serious. I don’t think they’re actually in the military.
I was Navy stationed in Charleston and they’d always be out in their uniforms with giant egos.
Hmm… I too have done absolutely nothing that would ever qualify me to hold any public office, maybe I should run for a seat in the house too! I haven’t committed any treason though, I hope that doesn’t take me out of the running…
No treason? You aren’t qualified in York or Chester. Sorry.
Tell me you didn’t take the lesson that it was wrong
without telling me you didn’t take the lesson that it was wrongby running for office. It’s ok, apparently treason is legal these days.
Benedict Donald…tendsetter!
It worked for Aaron Burr.
Even if he WASN’T a cult member and a traitor, there’s no fucking way that a 22yo has the necessary life experience and qualifications to do the job well. Literally impossible.
I wouldn’t say impossible. Unlikely, yes.
But yeah, scummy traitors don’t belong in government.
