In January, a 29-year-old man died after catching on fire in a city park next to the library and the temporary shelter. Police said they believe the victim had an “accelerant” on his clothes and caught fire after he lit a cigarette.

I agree. I provided an AMP free link as the primary link. But it had a notice that I had an ad blocker running. That notice couldn’t be closed. So I provided the AMP link. I didn’t feel like grabbing the archive.is link.

The answer is housing, health care, and education, and always has been nothing but that, but because it’s seen as forced charity, instead of solving a social dysfunction, we’ll keep going round and round in this circle of identifying the problem but ignoring the solution, which in the end will cost 1000 times as much, because peoples pride stands in the way of actually fixing things, to say nothing of the human cost for those who are homeless

Substance abuse and mental health crises are perfect situations for cops to be dispatched to. 🤦🏽‍♂️ Doing great, Portland Metro. Genius. /s

This is Beaverton, not Portland. My comment is regarding Beaverton’s history of getting rid of unwanted people

My deepest apologies, Beaverton. I know how badly y’all wanna be your own thing. Especially when it comes to dehumanizing others over perceived property value and pearl-clutching bullshit. Thanks for supporting my point, trog.
