    15 months? Oof.

The bad news: You’re not out of the woods.

The good news: The exhaustion starts to get better! (Or maybe you just end up accepting it as the new normal for your existence?)

I think it was around 2 or 2.5 when we noticed we were feeling a lot less of that constant exhaustion. But the COVID lockdown happened when he was about 1.5, so that also kinda threw a wrench in things.

Unfortunately, I already drink a ton of water and eat a good balanced food every day with 8 hours of sleep. The other night I went to bed as early as possible, my wife did morning duty, and I managed to stay in bed for 14 hours.

STILL TIRED. BOTH OF US. ALL THE TIME.

It sounds like you aren’t tired and have solved the riddle. How old is your child?

oh im still beat to shit. but i pace myself. truth is you are on duty forever and responsible for your descendant lines and cannot chill enough to recharge. eventually the kids get more capable and less suicidal and your routines help to carry you through. my kid is 5 and its much better than a couple of years ago.

Haha yeah, she’s just learned to walk RUN but hasn’t learned any self-preservation at all. She’s a happy little one and sleeps great which is incredible, but that constant on-edge stress and constant need to make sure she feels loved, acknowledged, validated and happy I think wears me down.

15m here too. I don’t know how people do it, but you aren’t alone. I’m exhausted all the damn time, and I don’t see how it’s going to get better. My little guy is a good sleeper, but he kicks the crap out of me when he’s awake, and most of the time and energy I have left when he’s napping or sleeping goes into working and putting the house back together enough to pass as acceptable for human habitation before he can tear it apart again. I haven’t had a decent game session or break in months, and it’s pretty rough. He makes it all worth it though.

Hello. I’ve got a 26 month old and a 2 month old. The exhaustion is real. But I take solace in noticing certain things becoming easier. My older daughter loved to fight against getting clothes put on her. Slowly but surely, she’s not only not fighting, but she’s actually trying to help with getting her clothes on. I see these things and can tell myself that it does, indeed, get easier.

Plus, I love them both to death. So that also helps.

Hang in there, man. You got this. And just know we are all pretty dang tired.

Sleep when baby sleeps. Eat when baby eats. Clean when baby cleans. Repair the dryer when baby repairs the dryer. Let baby drive when it’s time to run errands. Give baby a food budget, and have baby cook 3 meals each week. Have baby get certified as an electrician, plumber, or auto mechanic, so baby can take care of some household upkeep while you finally get a nap.

You might have already tried this, but prefer a regular sleep schedule if you can. Wake up at the same time every single morning if that’s possible for you.

Ironically I used to have a very erratic schedule but was never this tired.

Having a toddler wake me up every day at almost exactly 7am is much more exhausting! I’m definitely a night owl
