Interested to hear if any of you have an unpopular opinion to do with a thrash band.

Personally, I have at least two. The first one is Megadeth, I don’t know exactly what it is, but I just cannot seem to get into Megadeth, with the exception of Rust In Peace. Maybe it’s Mustaine’s vocals, idk. The second one is Annihilator, the first two albums are amazing imo, but after those, I hate the vocals. To me it sounds like some sort of vocals from a musical, they just lack the aggression that Rampage had on the first album and it ruins it for me. Idk if it is just me being picky?

Anyway, interested to hear your thoughts.

Lol I love both those bands! With Megadeth I find I go back to them much more than say, Metallica. Their music is more complex and just has more to chew on.

My favourite Annihilator album by far is Never, Neverland. It was the first one I heard and I love every song. I also like Pharr’s vocals. Their later albums are pretty cheesy though, especially the lyrics. Jeff’s such an awesome guitar player though, and I always wished he would hook up with a better ‘metal’ songwriter/lyricist.

Bands I could never get into: Exodus and Testament. Just boring songs except maybe a couple from each. Also Anthrax aren’t great with some notable exceptions from their earlier stuff.

Slayer is obviously awesome, but Hanneman’s songs were always way better than King’s. And their guitar solos blow.

I have a soft spot for Overkill, but I find most of their stuff is filler.

Song writing is king, and Metallica/Megadeth are the best at that.

Haha, my favourite band is Exodus, it seems we have contrasting opinions with that lmao. I think with Annihilator, I agree with what you said. I think after the first two albums the lyrics and vocals are way to cheesy for me. Overkill is probably top 5 bands for me, however there are around 5-6 albums which I cannot sit through, so I understand what you mean. But the rest of the discography more than makes up for it. I also love early Metallica but I think it is overrated imo. Nice to hear your opinion! :)

Can you recommend some good Exodus songs? Maybe from the newer albums as I’ve heard the older stuff.

Sure. Pretty much any of the songs from Blood In Blood Out, but some of my favourites are: Blood In Blood Out, Collateral Damage, Salt the Wound, BTK, and Food for the Worms. All of the album Tempo of the Damned is amazing, maybe one of my favourite albums (Impaler and Shroud of Urine are some stand-outs). The Fires of Division, R.E.M.F, and The Beatings Will Continue are some of my favourites from their newest album: Persona Non Grata. I’m personally a big fan of Zetro’s vocals, so therefore I do not listen to the Rob Dukes era as much, but if you prefer his vocals, then you can’t go wrong with: As It Was as it Soon Shall Be, Riot Act, Children of a Worthless God, and Class Dismissed. If you haven’t listened to the album Impact is Imminent (it is an older album) then I would definitely recommend it, it is extremely underrated imo.

Honestly just take your pick, there is not a single Exodus album I don’t listen to (apart from maybe half of Force of Habit). Although, I may be biased as it was the band which got me into Thrash. Hope this was helpful, don’t hesistate to ask if you need more recommendations, have a good day/night!

Old topic, but I’ve got one: Pantera!
They always felt fake to me. First two (or three?) albums were shitty glam metal, and then they decided to hop on the popular thrash bandwagon.
Still didn’t work for me, still posers.

I agree, I’d argue they aren’t even thrash, probably groove metal. Haven’t listened to all their albums though.
