I was a long-time subscriber to Sync For Reddit, until the great third party app purge last year when I just boycotted Reddit altogether. Now, a year later, I’m looking to fill that content hole with Lemmy, and stumbled across Sync For Lemmy. I love it! The one functionality I miss from SFR was the embedded player for YouTube videos. It seems that YouTube links will open only in the YouTube app or the external web browser. Is there a plan to reimplement the built-in player?

    I don’t know about your actual question, but look into revanced. So much better than the official app, or the built in player sync for reddit had.

    https://revanced.app/download That’s the link for the manager. You have to download the apk for YouTube from apkmirror and patch it with the manager. Will also have to install microg, install will point you to the right place for that. No ads, no sponsors, dislikes are back.

      I do use Revanced, it is one of my favorites. I just prefer the flow of staying in one app when browsing on reddit Lemmy
