Trabant’s body material was duroplast which was some sort of plastic with recycled waste fabrics, So you could say it was built with “carbon based fibers from recycled materials”. Funniest junk I had ever driven in

At the very least carbon based composite seems accurate

I would unironically LOVE to have a Trabant. Its such a shocking piece of shit that owning one and using it on the road actually moving under its own power would give me way more exclusivity cred than the Tesla owner.

Now I want to see someone make a really fast electric trabant, that would be so funny

Reminds me of an old East German joke:

So there is this super rich American guy. Owns anything that money could buy. The rarer it is, the more he wants it.

One day he hears about the Trabant, this Soviet car that, when you first order it, you still have to wait years till you actually receive one.

He wastes no time and orderes one of those super exclusive cars.

The Soviets upon hearing that this rich American guy wants one of their cars are super excited and waste no time to get one to him.

Once it arrives he turns to his assistant and says “Wow, not only did they let me order one of their cars, they also send me this small paper mache model of it”

Haha, reminds me of my old truck I used to drive: a 1999 Ford Ranger with 6 cylinders but 1 cylinder broken but not sealed so it always had 1 cylinder constantly spewing (and thus wasting) gas, had no traction because the tires were worn down completely, the underside was rusted away almost completely, the transmission was fucked up, the coolant system was fucked so I had to keep an eye on it to make sure it didn’t overheat, and couldn’t reach highway speeds (62+ mph / 100+ kph) without jerking back & forth every second.

Gods, I miss that ol’ piece of shit. xD
