So I sideloaded few apps that are already present in playstore. But whenever I go to my updates menu , I can see all my apps installed via playstore as well as side loaded. Is there a way to stop this?

Gonna suggest a complete alternative route here, but do as you like:

    1. Turn off notifications from Play Store.
    2. Install an app called AppFinder, or direct APK from their website.
    3. Use AppFinder as new place to install apps. No ads, no fuss, has advanced search functions too. No account needed for downloading apps either.

Otherwise AuroraStore is great too, as others have mentioned.

I don’t know about this anymore, but back in the day Titanium Backup had a “detach from market” feature you might try. Only works on rooted phones but since you are side loading apps I’m guessing that’s a step you’ve already taken.

It has been several years and probably 8 Android versions since I used Titanium Backup but it could still be there

It’s still there, but hasn’t worked in ages. The Play Store rebuilds its app database multiple times a day, which finds the detached apps again.

Side loading of apps doesn’t require root 😉

Don’t know why you’re downvoted, you’re right. Aurora is more private, secure, you can change your region to get region-locked apps, you can blacklist sideloaded apps, its FOSS - why would you continue to use the Google Play Store?

Aurora Store is an alternative front-end for Play Store, so you don’t you loose any of those.

            TIL

thanks for the tip. Don’t know how I hadn’t heard of this before.

Edit: Aurora store doesn’t work for me. I have paid apps I care about

            Provides only base minimum features

Can not download or update paid apps. Can not update apps/games with Play Asset Delivery
