    Read the article. How exactly did they expect this to work on a “states’ grounds” premise when the hardware doesn’t exist in said state?

      It’s not really pertinent where those records are stored (or the hardware.)

      Google operates in Michigan, and is subject to Michigan laws. This includes answering subpoenas for relevant documents

      Twitter and Google gave them the messages in question after being presented with a warrant.
