I was a huge fan of Alan Wake 1, and was hyped for a sequel. But if they insist on exclusivity on EGS I’m fine with not playing it.

I mean, Epic published it and funded its development. It’s not Remedy insisting so much as sticking to the terms of the contract that gave them the budget to make the game in the first place.

I agree that it sucks, though. At least they seem to be shopping around a bit when it comes to Control 2, so let’s hope they don’t end up with Epic again for that one.

Same if it never comes to steam and never is given away on epic I’m fine with not playing.

As a Linux user maybe if you make a native app for EGS and then contribute to Linux gaming I might care about EGS.

hasn’t the Unreal engine historically been good on linux?

Historically? Not really I’ve heard it was buggy and there were not linux binaries. Though they have started offering distro agnostic binaries around 2022. EGS has no native linux installer and Tim doesn’t like linux.

So and so. Unreal Tournament 2003 came with a bootable Linux CD that went right to the game. Awesome concept but apparently they didn’t keep it up.

My only exposure to Linux has been through the deck, but isn’t this why people use Heroic Games Launcher?

I do look forward to playing this game when it comes to Steam. And if it doesn’t, that’s okay, there’s plenty more games to play.

I’m with you. I have very limited time for games these days, and if it’s not on Steam it might as well not exist. I really could not care less about these corps complaining about Steams cut. You want my money? Come to me!

In this case, I’m not even convinced by complaints about the cut because tencent owns 15% of remedy and probably used that to influence the decision. Though I wonder if remedy shareholders could sue over such a bad decision that’s more about benefiting epic than remedy (though failing to benefit both).

Anyone willing to provide a TLDW since YouTube can fuck itself to death and Piped never worked for me?

I don’t know who presumably a person Remedy is, I don’t know about the presumably a video game series Alan Wake at all. Why is there speculation it’s available on Epic, can’t you just check?
